John David Hammer                      

1939 to 2025

John “Dave” Hammer, 85, beloved brother, father, uncle, grandfather, husband, stepfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully in hospital on February 13 2025 with his wife Monica, daughter Lori and stepdaughter Carolina by his side.

Dave will be remembered for his generous spirit always trying to help anyone in need, his good sense of humor, quick wit, and enthusiasm for life.  Passions were cooking, anything food related, cars & long drives, the outdoors (boating, camping, swimming, fishing, lakeside views), and speaking his own pig-latin.  A favorite saying “hang loose”.

His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Dave leaves behind cherished brother Paul (Jill), daughter Lori (Bruno Zaffino), son John (Melanie), grandsons Daniel (Katarina), Jordan, great-granddaughter Eliana, stepchildren Javier Vidal (Gabriela), Carolina Vidal (Paul), step grandchildren Jade, Camila, Christian, Santiago, nieces Lindsey, Stacey, Stephanie and nephews Sean and Andrew. 

Predeceased by his mother Dorothy Hammer nee McFarlane, father Allan C. Hammer, and sister Penny (Ralph Miller).

Dave’s wishes to rest in peace at Dyer’s Bay, ON, Canada will be honored this spring/summer on a date to be determined.
