Obituary of Kimberly Gabriel
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Kimberly Anne Gabriel. Kim died peacefully at her home on Monday, March 24.
Born on January 11, 1960, Kim is survived by her parents, Alec and Marion Gabriel, her siblings: Colin (Elizabeth) Gabriel, Leslie (Don) Hughes, nieces Margaret (Andrey), Eva, Sarah, and Kaley (Colin). She will be greatly missed and cherished by friends Beth Whiston and Ruth Biderman, the Breen family, and family in Scotland. Her dog, Chet, will especially miss their walks to the flower shop and the endless love she showered on him after rescuing him in 2023.
Kim was grateful for the memories she had with her husband, Joseph Breen, her son, Maxwell Gabriel-Breen, and daughter, Riley Gabriel-Breen, and beloved family pets, Ranger and Brier, who preceded her in death.
Kim graduated from U of T Law School in 1986 with her Bachelor of Laws Degree. She articled for Garfinkle, Biderman and was called to the Bar in 1988. She continued her career with Garfinkle, Biderman as a Partner until her retirement in 2023.
A lifelong lover of art, Kim found joy and connection in creative expression. Whether through her digital scrapbooking, Zentangling, or exquisite watercolour paintings, Kim’s passion for art brought light, colour, and beauty to her world and the lives of those around her. Her love of beautiful paper, pens, inks, and stickers sparked a lasting joy that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Kim had a unique ability to add vibrancy to everything she did, always ready with the brightest yellow flowers, the fiercest orange bag, or the best pink scarf.
Kim was incredibly generous and had the best sense of humour. She was a voracious reader and her love of learning never waned. She was feisty and knowledgeable and willing to debate any topic. The family will greatly miss her spirited conversations.
Cremation has taken place and family and friends will gather privately to celebrate Kim’s life.
