George was my close friend for over 40 years. His personality was bigger than life, charismatic, always insightful, interested in others and generous to a fault. He had an amazing sense of humour, often keeping friends and strangers in stitches with his quick wit and keen observations. George loved helping others and did so at every opportunity. He loved golf, music, hockey, woodworking and smoking a well-aged Cuban cigar.
He loved his family and always kept me abreast of Adam and Andrew’s accomplishments. He was a hard worker who led by example.
George’s was fun to spend time with. Once, in the 80s, a bunch of us traveled on holiday together to Wildwood, New Jersey. On our first day in Wildwood, a resort town, George and I found an unattended bicycle built for two near the boardwalk dotted with arcades and amusement rides. We jumped on peddling, zigging and zagging and laughing uncontrollably. You can imagine the surprise on our friends’ faces as they heard our vocalizations then saw us rounding a corner on that bicycle built for two.
I will miss George’s spirit and thirst for adventure. He stood by his friends and will be remembered as a thoughtful, supportive and loyal friend.
I will miss you buddy!
Sincerest condolences to Adam, Andrew, Patty and Olga and extended family.

I worked with George and had the privilege of calling him my friend for almost 30 years. He was a true ‘people person’ - genuine, caring, always willing to help, and a lot of fun! He loved hockey, golf, classic cars, and fine cigars. But you could always tell that what George loved most was his family - he was such a proud father and would light up when he spoke about Adam and Andrew and their accomplishments.
To the entire family, my heartfelt condolences for your loss. There are too few people like George, and I will miss him.

George’s generosity helped many people over the years, and that kindness will never be forgotten.
My sincere condolences to George’s family during this difficult time. May his memory be a source of comfort and strength.

George and I worked for many years together at Nortel. I will admit, George and I didn’t always share the same philosophy or strategy, but that just lead to great debates and leanings. One thing you didn’t have to debate was George’s passion and commitment. I have not had the opportunity to talk to George for many years, but the memories and appreciation are very vivid nonetheless. I’m glad to hear you also found passion in being an active part of your son’s lives as that is the legacy that will be truly remembered and appreciated. Thoughts and prayers are with you Tess, Adam and Andrew.

I first met George in 2002 at Humber Valley Sharks Novice hockey tryout where George’s son Adam and my son Grayson were trying out for the same team. George was the first parent to come up to me and introduce himself. Little did I know that it would be the start of a friendship that lasted over 23 years.
Adam and Grayson would play 8 seasons together at Humber Valley. George would never miss a game or a practice. I figure George watched Adam play over 400 games and probably 1,000 practices over those 8 seasons. George loved watching Adam play hockey.
After hockey ended George and I remained friends and spent many a Friday Night having a beer with the other hockey dads (Jamie, Paul, Andy, Brian) either at the local pub, Andy’s mancave or Paul’s backyard firepit.
Were going to miss George and when I say miss George I mean miss everything about George. Were going to miss his laugh and his wise words on the Leafs/Music/Politics and any other obscure topic that we would talk about on any given night.
George was loved and is still loved by so many. Even though George is not here anymore he will always be in our hearts. George was a very special person.
My condolences to Tess, Adam and Andrew.
Rest In Peace My Friend

To the entire family of George, my heartfelt condolences. May you take comfort that his journey will take him to the warm embrace of our lords arms. Although I seldom saw George in our adult years, unless it was at a wedding, grocery store, mutual friend/cousin or the odd Greek event, It was like time stood still. He had the same charismatic smile, soulful eyes that could read you when he shook your hand. George had a story or two to share, that could have you laughing one moment and contemplating his words of wisdom the next moment. From a very early age, I knew that George was a man that was going places. when he entered a room it was filled with his presence in a most dignified way. His loyalty was fierce and unwavering especially to his family. He had this competitive nature about him, When we were young and bored at one of the many My Big Fat Greek dances, we would all play soccer with the dinner rolls. There he would be scoring goals, with these tiny buns flying in the air . He took those soccer games seriously...lol. Often these Greek Celebrations that us teenagers attended ran during the hockey playoffs or baseball season. So someone would sneak a transistor radio without our parents knowing. George and the boys would be huddled listening to the game and debating who was going to win. George left us too soon, yet with unforgettable memories. Cherish them, and most of all keep them Alive!

Adam and Andrew - your Dad was a great guy and I extend my condolences to you from the Suboch family. Many a night were spent in the Man Cave or on your porch regaling each other with various tales. He was always there if assistance was needed and he gave countless hours in support of Humber Valley hockey. Obviously a HUGE loss to your family but almost as great a loss to the community. George will be missed. My condolences again, Andy

He loves both Adam and Andrew, always providing updates about their lives. He would always have this glow on his face, very proud of both and their achievements. Keep going boys make you dad proud.
George is a passionate person who truly cared about how others were doing, especially if you were going through difficult times. If you needed help or advice with anything he would be there. From building a fence, garage, landscaping to making decisions about live. He loves woodworking and would show up with a gift for you that he made. I am sure that many of us received these. He truly has a heart of gold.
I will be raising a glass of red wine, we shared probably too many, in honor of you my friend.

How do we say goodbye? From the first day that Gina brought George home from the hospital we loved him unconditionally. We watched him grow up and become fine young man. He excelled at school and had a very successful career. George got married and together with Tess they raised two beautiful sons Adam and Andrew that he loved very much. His unexpected passing has left us all numb and heartbroken. No words can take away the pain we are all feeling George you will forever remain in our hearts. We will cherish all our memories of you. Adam and Andrew always remember that your father loved you very much and was very proud of you. Therefore this is not goodbye just “until we meet again”. Your Aunt Angie.

Our family will be forever grateful to George for the comfort he provided our Dad during his illness, and especially our Mom after his ultimate passing. George shared a very special bond with our Dad, and as we try to search for answers during this heartbreaking time, perhaps we can find some solace in the belief that they are perhaps now reunited, engaged in their endless conversations over bottomless cups of coffee. May his memory be eternal. Rest in peace George, and love always to your beautiful boys. Olga & Dean Constantopoulos.

My heart is heavy over the passing of my Uncle George. Growing up he was my fun uncle, always ready to play, take me on rides in his fancy cars and somehow always knew what was on my wishlist, surprising me with my favourite toys. I looked forwards to his visits, and I vividly remember running down the hall when I would hear him come through the door. He was a warm presence, who always made me feel special.
Even as I got older, he still always knew how to put a smile on my face. I remember one Christmas Eve, I opened the door and saw him standing there in a blue metallic suit jacket. I actually think he liked this jacket, but I also know he loved the reaction he was getting out of everyone.
During some of our family’s Greek Easter’s, he would tease me with the head from the lamb on the spit. I remember shrieking in horror at the sight of it, and him laughing so hard, causing me to crack up too. No one else but him could have gotten away with that! That fun-loving energy was infectious.
He was the quintessential uncle, who cared deeply for his family and always wanted the best for everyone. I don’t know if I will ever be able to make sense of this loss, but I do know that I was fortunate to have had him. I just really wish I had a chance for another hug and to tell him how special he was to all of us.
Love, always.

George and I first met at UT circa 1980. Both sons of ethnic immigrant parents. We were part time student employees at Hart House. Handing out towels to alumni for $5/hour. No joke. In those days $5 bought a tray of 20 x 6 oz draught beers at the Brunswick House. We spent our earnings well
I watched George progress in business, reaching fantastic heights. And despite the demands of his managerial obligations he always found time for his family and to steal an afternoon for a round of golf with his buddies. Frank, Al and I were often in his company while golfing. Never taking our games too seriously but instead relaxing and recharging. George’s remote speaker kept us entertained. Mr Boombastic was a favourite tune.
Always the showman, Gman (my nickname for him) would attend at dinner parties dressed in some amusing attire.
He provided me with some insights into business which I used to great financial advantage. I am in his debt.
We were constantly texting during Leaf games, wondering if this years team will be “the one”. I hope they do it this year in his honour.
Losing a friend like George is a terrible blow. I cannot imagine the pain for his family
The world is less fun today due to his passing.

Goodbye to my dear friend, George Pappas. We first met through our shared passion for volunteering at the Humber Valley Hockey Association, and little did I know then how much this friendship would come to mean to me. Over the years, George not only became a trusted colleague, but also a close friend whose wisdom, calm demeanor, and unwavering support I relied on countless times.
George had an incredible ability to make the complex seem simple. His intelligence, combined with a rare patience, made him the kind of person who could always be counted on during difficult times. While navigating issues at the rink, George brought a sense of ease and clarity to every situation. His calm presence was a grounding force, and I learned so much from his example.
George was so much more than just a volunteer. He was a man with a deep love for life, sports, and the people he cared about. He was dedicated to making sure as many children as possible had the chance to experience the joy of sport. He truly believed in the power of community and the positive impact that sports could have on young lives, and he worked tirelessly to make that a reality.
We also shared a love of classic cars and good cigars—a small but significant part of our friendship where we could talk about our mutual interests and enjoy each other's company without the pressures of the world around us. Those times will always be some of my fondest memories. He was a friend who cared deeply.
George was also a devoted family man. He had a way of making everyone feel special, and his loyalty and warmth made him a constant presence in the lives of those who knew him. I will miss him. I find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the many lives he touched.
Goodbye, my friend. You will be dearly missed. Rest in peace, George.
