My deepest condolences and love to Susan’s family and loved ones. I just started the ECA program this year, and I feel so lucky that I got to learn from Susan. She shared not only her knowledge and real-life stories, but also her kindness, warmth, and sense of humour. Even in online classes, she created a space where we could truly be ourselves and actually have fun while learning.
She was always there for us, checking in, supporting us through our internships, and making sure no one was left behind. That kind of care meant so much. <3
When I start working with children, I know I’ll carry Susan with me. I’ll remember her in the joy, curiosity, and love I hope to share with others, just like she did with us. I’m so thankful for her and will never forget the impact she’s had on my journey.
May she rest in peace.
Love and prayers,
Mecca

I had the profound pleasure of meeting Susan earlier this year when she joined the Academy of Learning to teach in our Early Childhood Assistant program. From the very beginning, her passion for teaching radiated through every word and action. She had a unique gift—when Susan spoke, you couldn’t help but listen. Her words carried wisdom, warmth, and sincerity that made time seem to stand still. Conversations with her often felt like moments, even when an hour had passed.
Susan was a truly kind and gentle soul—someone who made others feel seen, heard, and valued. She had an incredible way of connecting with people, not just as colleagues or students, but as individuals with stories and hearts. She took time to understand others, always listening with genuine curiosity and care.
One conversation I will never forget was when Susan shared her experience working with a young boy with autism. The compassion and belief she held in that child’s abilities brought me to tears. As a parent of a child on the spectrum, hearing someone speak with such hope and admiration meant the world. Susan didn’t know my personal connection at the time, yet her words revealed a deep empathy and understanding that showed me just how special she was.
Though Susan was with us at AOL for only a short time, her impact was profound. Her presence lifted our spirits, and her absence has left a lasting void. We are grateful for the time we had with her, and we will carry her memory forward with love and appreciation.
Susan, thank you for your light, your heart, and the many lives you touched.
You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Five years ago, when I was heading off on maternity leave, Susan kindly gave me a gift that I still treasure to this day - A Thermos mug!! While everyone else (generously!) gifted me items for the baby, Susan thought of ME :) She said "This is so that you can enjoy hot tea, I have one and it keeps my tea hot for ages!" And she was right, that mug became a small and powerful comfort in those early days with my daughter!
I still use that Thermos every weekend, it keeps my coffee hot while I chase after the kids, tidy the house and enjoy the chaos of life. Susan, your thoughtful gift continues to warm my coffee and my heart. You are fondly remembered for your kindness, you wit, your ability to make us laugh regardless of the situation. May you rest in eternal peace.
My thoughts and sincere condolences are with all those mourning this very sad loss.

I met Susan about seven years ago at Anderson College’s Eglinton Campus, and I still remember how she immediately stood out as someone who radiated warmth, kindness, and genuine care for those around her. She wasn’t just a teacher—she was a mentor, a guide, and in many ways, a life coach to her students.
Susan had a remarkable way of connecting with people—whether it was a struggling student, a fellow colleague, or an employer partner—she always took the time to listen, to support, and to uplift. During her time at Anderson, she touched countless lives.
Her impact is still felt by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed by students, colleagues, and the broader Anderson community.
Rest in peace, Susan. Your light lives on in the lives you changed.

My condolences to anyone who had the honour in meeting Susan Watt. The pain and grief is unbearable.
I met Susan at Anderson College just before the pandemic started and we grew very close over the past 5 years. I said that she was my sister from another mister because we were so much alike and bonded over everything early childhood related.
She was my rock during Covid, and while raising a teenager by myself, Sue was the only person who I could go to for advice. We spoke almost daily, she loved sharing what sales were on and always encouraged a good shopping trip.
Cats. Oh how Sue loved her cats. Both of our cats passed away and we supported each other through those painful days. We often bought each others cats some toys, amongst the hundreds of cat pic shared daily.
We both leaned on each other when it came to teaching our college students, with great humour and advocacy. We always ended up teaching at the same schools- we had each others backs. The hundreds of educators that she taught are or will be in the childcare profession, were taught by an incredible mentor, her students are beyond prepared to be in the field.
When my mum had a stroke in 2022, Susan came to the hospital and brought me a Cesar salad- I wasn’t eating and as I am a diabetic, she deeply cared for my condition, and the well-being of others. We bonded over our medical conditions and on the journeys to medical appointments via cab and recently Uber.
What a ride. Susan and I were always advocating when it came to our work hours, and the career we chose. I wouldn’t be where I am today without Susan’s daily conversations, support, optimism and funny jokes.
I’ll continue to take Sue’s memories with me wherever I am, and I’ll continue writing her name in the sand. I’ll think of her when I’m marking assignments, eating tomatoes, hugging my cat, at dollarama, at a ECA graduation, and drinking tea….
The list goes on & so does Sue’s legacy.
I love you, Susan.
