Obituary of Susan Watt
Susan Rose Watt, 61, of Toronto ON, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Thursday July 10, 2025. Sue’s death is believed to be due to complications of her epilepsy or a seizure.
Sue’s career was dedicated to early childhood education. As a daycare professional and instructor for several Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) programs and founder of Kinder Minds Education, she influenced thousands of children - those she worked with personally, but also the many ECA instructors she taught. Sue demonstrated the importance of bringing compassion, curiosity, and laughter to children and adults alike. She made learning a joyful experience.
Friends and family will remember her keen sense of fun, abiding generosity, thoughtfulness and kindness. Sue provided a warm caring home for her lucky cats who embody the love she showed them. At family get-togethers and cottage times, conversations with Sue often began with “Hey, do you want to hear a joke?” Sue invariably turned up with bags crammed full of games, art supplies, and other fun stuff for family members young and old.
Sue will be deeply missed by her dear friends, her loving parents, and her large family of five siblings, their partners, children and grandchildren. Sue was a brilliant aunt - creative, playful, and deeply caring. She had a particular talent for choosing the very best children’s books, always just right for the child who would receive them. Our shelves are lined with stories she gifted, each one bearing a thoughtful note in her unmistakable handwriting. Her love shines through those pages and inscriptions. Sue even wrote a children’s story about her nieces and nephews as animals, called ‘Taryn the Friendly Turtle’ which was about the love of friendship, adventure and about having compassion for one another.
Sue brightened the lives of all who knew her, and she leaves a legacy of compassion, joy, and love. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a scholarship in Susan’s name. For more information, please email susanwattscholarship@gmail.com
