Obituary of Vera Serazin
Vera Serazin January 7, 1934 - July 25, 2025
At the remarkable age of 91 and after a full life filled with many blessings, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vera Serazin. Dearly loved and missed by family and friends in Toronto and Slovenia. Predeceased by her husband Metod. Mother to Sylvia (Ed), Karl (Debbie) and Anne (Garry) and adoring Nana to Cole, Sandra, Kyle, Scott, Nicholas, Patrick, Shane, Brian and Chelsea. Vera was born in Radlje ob Dravi, Slovenia (former Yugoslavia). After WW2, Vera and Metod fled war-ravaged Yugoslavia by making a tough/harrowing struggle to escape across the border to Italy where they lived in a refugee camp for a year. Metod made the voyage to Canada in November 1951, followed by Vera and her first born daughter Sylvia in March 1952, with only the clothes on their back Vera joined Metod on a farm in Stratford where they were treated with a great deal of kindness. They eventually made their way to Toronto. Metod and Vera worked multiple jobs to support their growing family (Karl and Anne came along). Vera eventually joined Metod in the business and worked tirelessly to run Bonanza Cycle until they retired. Vera was loving, humble, honest, kind, intelligent, hard working, a great cook, and spoke 6 languages. She was our hero. We would like to thank all the friends and caregivers that were a part of Vera's life, she spoke so fondly of you. Thank you in particular to Loretta (PSW) and the Palliative Care Team at St. Joseph’s Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto and/or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
