Obituary of William Smith Black

William Smith Black (17 th February 1942)

Passed away on the 18^th of July 2025 at Annswell Court Seniors Apartment , Thornhill Summit Drive.

Bill as his friends knew him was a man’s man and on occasion not an easy character to get

along with , he was aware of this , but his heart was in the right place and would often be

helping others before helping himself. He was proud of becoming a Canadian in the second

half of his life and happiest living on Vancouver Island in the earlier part of his life.

He liked watching soccer , formula one , watching and playing golf (with a slice) and in later

years found great joy and peace sailing with his best mate Mirko.

He Leaves his son Andrew J. ; Julie A. ; Paul G. ; Anne H. ; Jean D. ; most trusted friend

Mirko G. ; Friends at the apartment complex ; friends at the Yacht club and many more

within Ontario who will have known him.

Bill will be cremated at St. John’s Norway Crematorium and his ashes, as was his spoken

wish , be returned to his place of birth in Scotland where they will be scattered on his

Mother’s grave.
