Obituary of Lorraine Genevieve Hendricks
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorraine Genevieve Hendricks, who left us peacefully on September 6, 2025, at the age of 85.
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Lorraine immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1966 with her then-husband, Gerry (predeceased), and their two young children. She lived independently for many years, and that was a formative part of her life.
Lorraine was known for her sharp tongue, unapologetic humour (often inappropriate), and fierce independence.
She was the loving mother of Marc (predeceased), Vanessa, and Kyle (Reiko); cherished grandmother of Michael (predeceased) and Kaitlyn (Harry); and proud great- grandmother of Maddison and Jordynn. Lorraine was the second youngest of seven siblings—survived by Maureen, and predeceased by Thelma, Vernon, Herbert, Edna, and Eric.
In accordance with Lorraine’s wishes, there will be no public funeral. She will be cremated privately, and the family will honour her memory in a quiet, personal way.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the compassionate caregivers at Kipling Acres Long-Term Care Home, whose gentle presence and unwavering support meant the world to Lorraine and those closest to her.
To honour Lorraine’s memory, donations may be made to Kipling Acres Long-Term Care Home, the Alzheimer Society of Canada, or a charity of your choice.
Lorraine’s spirit lives on in the laughter she sparked, the love she gave, and the stories that will be told for years to come.
