Obituary of Melanie Albano

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Melanie Albano on December 24, 2025, who
passed away peacefully at Scarborough Network Centenary Hospital at the age of 51 years old, after
a courageous battle with cancer.
Melanie is predeceased by her Lola and grandfather, Isabel and John Harris.
Melanie will be lovingly remembered by those she left behind, her mother, Tessie Barnes, her sister
Janet Tkachuk (Todd), her nephew Jordan Hogan (Sonya), niece Shauna Hogan (Mavis & Benjamin)
and her great nephews (Alexander, Donovan and James), and her "boyz", Chewy and Simba.
Melanie came to Canada at the age of 4 and went to school at St. Timothy's Elementary and
graduated from St. Joseph's Morrow Park High School. She wore many hats, work-wise, but loved being in the
Insurance industry and worked hard to obtain her Brokerage License. She never gave up.
She lived life to the fullest and loved to travel, calling Jamaica and Stony Lake, home / her happy
place, where she created many wonderful memories with her amazing group of friends that she held
near and dear to her heart. She crafted many items for her dogs and during Covid, made masks,
coffee mug and T-shirt designs. She made sure that Chewy became a Certified Therapy Dog
volunteering at Sicks Kids Hospital, but Simba would have none of that.
Melanie fought and won her battle with cancer for years, but sadly her cancer came back with a
vengeance. She will always be remembered for her beautiful soul, her zest for life, for being a strong,
independent, loving, sassy, fierce, passionate and stubborn young woman she was.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Therapeutic Paws of Canada, which was Melanie's favorite charity
or Princess Margaret Cancer Care.

Funeral Mass Location: St. Francis de Sales, Ajax, Catholic Church; 1001 Ravenscroft Road, Ajax,
Ontario.
Service Date/Time: February 13, 2026 at 10:30AM
Internment/Committal: February 13, 2026 at 1:00PM to be held at Highland Memory Garden; 33
Memory Gardens Ln, North York, Ontario – all are welcome to attend.
Reception organized by Friends of Melanie to follow TBA.
