Obituary of Andrew James Templeton
Andrew Templeton passed away on May 21 at the age of 45, surrounded by the love of his family at his bedside — his mother and father, sister, brother in law, nephew, daughter, and wife.
Andrew was a man whose life was built around family. A proud “mama’s boy” through and through, he carried a deep and unwavering love for those closest to him. He created countless unforgettable memories with his nieces and nephews, from camping trips and laughter-filled adventures to thrilling days at Canada’s Wonderland. There, he found pure joy in the adrenaline rush — a love he eagerly shared with his children, Archer and Alice, always checking if they met the height requirements so they could join in the excitement.
Andrew took great pride in working alongside his father and extended family in the family business, which brought him not only a sense of accomplishment but deep connection. He loved sharing stories of building the family cottage with his dad and Uncle Steve, as well as cherished memories of time spent at Pigeon Lake with his beloved late Aunt Jayne and his late grandmother, Marvel.
More than anything, Andrew treasured the dream of building his own family. Despite life’s challenges, his greatest priority was always those he loved most. He was a proud and protective father to his daughter, Abigail, and found humor in his well-known ability to intimidate any young man who took an interest in her — often with the help of his treasured knife collection.
Andrew had a deep love for Marvel movies and comics, and he was known for his wonderfully twisted sense of humor, which brought laughter to those around him even in difficult moments.
Born into a large and loving family, Andrew shared an unbreakable bond with his two older sisters, who were always ready to protect their “baby brother” at any cost. His love of family extended beyond blood, as he grew a strong and faithful community through Trinity Church, where he often spoke fondly of his men’s retreats and the meaningful connections he made there.
Andrew is lovingly remembered by his wife of 20 years, Amanda Templeton, and his beloved children, Abigail, Archer, and Alice; his father, John Templeton; and his mother, Danalynn Tanner. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Ballantyne, Christine Villemaire (Jason), and Ashlee Wall (Tim); his brotherly cousin, Scott Iles; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was a proud and cherished uncle to many and a “Gruncle” to numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, James and Marvel Templeton, and Benoit and Beryl Graham; his uncle, Paul Graham and David Templeton; his aunt, Jayne Groves; his stepfather, Mark Tanner; and his great-nephew, Cayden Lewis.
Visitation will be held on Monday June 29, 2026 from 12:00- 1:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Church Streetsville, 69 Queen Street S, Mississauga, Ontario, L5M 1M6. After the service, there will be a reception in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Movember in honour of Andrew, a charity he held close to his heart.
Andrew will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his fierce love of family, his sense of humor, and the lasting memories he created with all who knew him.
