How Much Does A Cremation Cost?

The cremation cost for a deceased loved one can differ widely depending on several criteria, such as the chosen cremation service, the funeral home or crematorium, and the additional services selected by the family. The cost of the cremation and any other services you might like to go along with it can range anywhere from a few hundred dollars for a simple direct cremation to thousands of dollars for more elaborate arrangements.

How Cremation Cost Is Influencing Disposition Preferences

Cremation is gradually becoming the preferred choice for final disposition in Canada. The price of cremation could drop further as more crematoriums open to satisfy growing customer demand.

This is excellent news for the average customer, who opts for cremation as it frequently costs far less than a conventional funeral and burial, and they will have to pay even less when they choose cremation. The experts at Cremation Care Centre are here to help you with information regarding cremation costs and the process involved. Opting for other services will increase the basic cremation costs, and it’s best to discuss all these options with the funeral director.

Types Of Cremations

There are four main cremation methods, and each one has specific requirements:

  • Cremation With A Traditional Service- This cremation method involves the family planning a funeral service where the body is interred in a casket and respects are paid to the deceased. The remains are then cremated and returned to the family.
  • Cremation With A Memorial Service- The cremation is followed by a memorial service, at which the urn containing the ashes is displayed. However, with cremation, neither a casket nor a visitation is necessary if the family chooses not to have it.
  • Cremation Without A Ceremony (Direct Cremation)- Direct cremation does not include a viewing or visitation, and the deceased will not be embalmed. The mortal remains of the person are cremated soon after their death. The other options are more complex and expensive than this method.
  • Cremation With The Body Being Donated To Science- Some people wish to donate their entire bodies to science; specific scientific research institutions manage the cremation in such cases. After completing their studies and investigations, these organizations pay for and handle the cremations. Since most of the organs and tissues are used in research and experimentation, cremation becomes the only option in this case.
