Everyone handles grief in their own way. On Thursday January 23rd, 2020 I lost my beloved spouse to Cancer.
We have battled this disease for over 14 months, with me being the best advocate I could for her health.
Being by her side every step of the way, Sylvie was not alone when she passed away I was there holding her hand.
Some of you may have experienced love lost, but it is even harder when you believe you have done all that you can to help the one you love.
It hurts even more when you feel the emptiness and you are looking are pictures and reminiscing of all the good times.
We laughed, we traveled, we eat, we cuddled, we loved, we remembered together. So most of you will know me I am very private person and don’t take to social media to renounce anything. This time this is dear to my heart and my heart was broken, you cannot imagine how it pains me to write this it is very emotional.
Most of my dearest friends and family have reached out to me either locally or over the phone to express their condolences for my loss.
I appreciate everyone’s caring concerns towards my well-being, this man will heal.
Sylvie believed Family and Friends and Educator colleagues, were most important in one’s life-style of Joy and Happiness and of course myself as well as part of the fold. She will be will missed by myself and her Family, cousins and close Friends that have been there for her in the 14th month battle with Cancer.
So I ask all of you this on Saturday February 15th, 2020 at 11am.
Where ever you are and in what religion you believe in say a prayer or do something nice in honour of my Sylvie Toutant.
With Love and Respect Tony Monize

Sylvie the Educator:
Sylvie taught French Immersion at Louis-Honore Frechette P.S. and Woodland P.S. in York Region for 26 years, before retiring in 2017. During her career, she taught a variety of grades and subjects, bringing her creativity and love of children to all. Her classroom was always a welcoming and safe place, where her young students would vie to have closest proximity to their beloved teacher. This also extended to recess- when she was on duty in the schoolyard, they would argue over who got to hold her hand. The parent community and her teaching colleagues loved and respected her for her kindness, humour, warmth and dedication.
Sylvie had great empathy for others and was a source of consolation and support for those who were suffering. She was a wonderful teaching partner, always willing to share her ideas with other teachers. She became known for her beautiful and creative art projects which decorated the hallways of Woodland P.S. In the staff room, Sylvie enjoyed starting her day with laughter, breakfast and a good cup of coffee in the company of her colleagues, who were also her friends. Her smile brightened everyone’s day.
Fellow teachers remember how she was the most chic teacher, always dressed and manicured to perfection. Even after a long day of sitting on the floor teaching primary students, she looked flawless. Sylvie made her students love learning, and inspired her colleagues to be better teachers. Sylvie has changed us forever; her legacy of love and laughter lives on.

A Tribute from Colleagues and Friends:
Sylvie, our beautiful and very good friend,
As much as Sylvie was an excellent professional teacher in all aspects, she was more than that for us. We started our friendship in a school as colleagues, but this friendship was going to spread in each of our personal lives. We met with friends for dinner and parties and all the time Sylvie was always dressed on the 31st. We had several philosophical, political, academic conversations and we could always count on Sylvie to let us know her real colors about discussed.
She loved her family, her sister, her brother-in-law, her brother, her nieces and her mother. She always talked about each of them and was always looking forward to spending the holidays, even Christmas, spring break and summer among them. Love was felt and seen between them.
She was always welcoming and often invited us to go quickly to her, even at the chalet in Quebec.
We have fond memories of our beautiful Sylvie. We are happy that she will be at peace now.
