Obituary of Kenneth William Scollay
Brampton, ON
1964 - 2020
Kenneth (Ken) William Scollay passed away March 17 th , 2020 at Toronto General Hospital after several weeks of fighting a lung infection. Ken received a second chance of life on August 24 th , 2018 when he received the gift of a lung transplant. Ken was fearless as he braved the surgery and a very long recovery period. The day to day rehabilitation which Ken was faced with allowed him to be an inspiration through the strength, determination, resilience and passion he showed for life as he
fought many weeks of hospital stays through this duration but never lost humour, hope, faith and love for his family. Ken stayed strong for his family and he accepted fully the hand life had dealt him.Ken did not ask “why me” when faced with a terminal illness but stated simply “why not me”.
Ken leaves behind his wife Sandra, children Joshua (Erin) and Cassandra (Pat). Sisters Karen (Rick) Stanton, Kim (Blair) McKenzie and his nephew Paul (Sam) and nieces Taylor and Jillian. Ken leaves behind many beloved in-laws, friends and colleagues who will miss his humour, golf trips, friendship and love.
To the many doctors and nurses who attended to Ken over the past 18 months I, his wife Sandra am forever grateful for all you have done to give me more time with my husband, the love of my life and who forever filled me with the inspiration for taking risks in life and not sweating the small stuff. There is nothing that will ease the pain of the emptiness left behind from his passing but will take a small comfort in knowing we will be together again. We will delay a Celebration of Kens Life to a later date once it is safe to gather in large groups. You can show your support by being an organ donor, giving blood and through the much-needed donations to research at Toronto General Hospital Transplant Division or a charity of your choice. A very special thank you to all the friends and family who supported Ken and I over the past several months, your friendship, kindness and love has meant the world to us both, thank you.
