Obituary of David George Capraru
With deep sorrow, I announce that our brother passed away April 1,
after a long illness. This has been a great loss to his sisters Pamela and
Shelly; brother-in-law Talat and nephew Gabriel; nephew Jacob and his
family; along with his former wives Adriana and Rachel; and his friends
near and far. Predeceased by our parents John and Lynda. Fondly
remembered by the Cobb family, our lifelong friends.
Although David struggled in life, he touched those who crossed his path,
sharing his sharp wit, love of music and design, fine cars, travel, and
especially fishing. For many years, he lived in Port Credit, where we
grew up, and he proudly co-owned the Lake Affect bar-restaurant on the
harbour. His August birthday bash with a live band, held at his home for
13 years in a row, was legendary. In honour of our Aunt Eleanor, he also
participated in the local charity walk for the Multiple Sclerosis Society,
with recognition as a top fundraiser.
Much gratitude goes to the care team at Mississauga Trillium Hospital,
and to his friends Mike and Tobyn, who visited him daily for the past
few weeks. No formal memorial is planned—not David’s style. Instead,
we’ll scatter his cremains at the family cottage on Snake Island, Lake
Simcoe, a place he loved. One of his favourite spots was the stone fire pit
he helped build. We’ll bless and send him off from there with a bonfire
and bottle rockets, raising a glass in his memory.

must take.” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
