Obituary of Marion Louise Fulford
Marion Louise Fulford (nee McMahon)
Died peacefully at home, Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at the age of 89.
She is survived by daughters Valerie McNellen and Kathryn, son in-law Casey McNellen, grandsons Quinlan, Caelan, Declan McNellen, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Marion was born in Toronto May 6th, 1929 the second of four children born to Roland Foster McMahon and Kathleen Marion Corbett. She was predeceased by siblings Shirley McMahon-Glunz, Roland and Leslie McMahon.
A graduate of Runnymede Collegiate, Marion would proudly show us her Runnymede alumni ring and tell us how she won a medal of honour for top marks. Marion was accelerated by two grades in school and graduated at age 16. Despite having the academic abilities for university Marion joined the workforce after graduation as her help was needed to support her siblings.
She was a contestant in the Miss Toronto pageant and dazzled husband Murney Reid Fulford, (1929-2004), so greatly with her beauty that he announced to a friend, moments after their first meeting, “I’m going to marry that girl!”
They were married June 9, 1956, at Humbercrest United and after many many years of trying finally welcomed daughters, Kathryn and Valerie.
Marion enjoyed drawing, painting in oils, reading, writing poetry (occasionally published in newspapers), crossword puzzles, murder mysteries, correcting grammar, finding mistakes in advertisements (often receiving thank you gifts from companies) and cuddling cats and babies.
There will be a celebration of life gathering on Friday, September 28th from 12 noon – 7 pm.
