Obituary of Michael Smietana

Heartbroken I announce the loss of my husband of 52 years, Michael Smietana, who passed away peacefully at home on February 2 from a rare complication of cancer.

Michael had a strong bond with his sons Morgan and Owen who were also his best friends. He delighted in his grandchildren Ella Royal, Una and Bishop, who are already missing him. Michael lived a full and eclectic life. A natural athlete who loved ice hockey and golf, he was also an architectural draftsman, an artist, an award winning copywriter, part owner of a race horse, Futures Trader, inventor and playwright. He enjoyed music, especially the blues, traveling, debating issues, gambling ... he was always working on "The Perfect Betting System "!. Michael was totally supportive of my line dance passion and came to help at many of my events. He enjoyed meeting my dancing friends.

He had many close friends and my thanks to all who have been in touch already. My sons, grandchildren and I and other family members are going to miss him dreadfully. My house feels so empty without him.
