Obituary of Rose Szoke

ROSE SZOKE
February 1, 1933 – February 6, 2021

Rose passed away suddenly at the age of 88. She survived her loving and supporting husband Istvan Szoke, who passed away in 2015. She will be sadly missed by her son Istvan and his wife Iren, her daughter Erika (Kadar) and her husband Thomas, and her granddaughters Monika and Kassandra.

Rose was born in Ada, Serbia. She bravely and courageously left for Canada in 1970 and embraced and loved her life in Toronto. Rose had many passions, including her love for: spending time with family and friends, nurturing flowers, organic gardening, gourmet cooking and baking, traveling, celebrating - singing and dancing, being vivacious and elegant, sewing, helping and supporting others, pursuing great business endeavours and success, continuous learning and applying her knowledge and experience,
keeping healthy and always pursuing a positive attitude to enjoy her journey in life! She was admired for her strength, love, dedication and support of her family and friends.

Her journey in life included many challenges. She embraced each and every one and proudly moved forward with unwavering perseverance. The last few years at Chartwell Waterford Retirement Residence in Oakville offered her independence, and the opportunity to live in a loving and caring environment with all the amenities she admired and valued in life. She was a respected contributor to the Waterford retirement community, loved by all staff and residents!

At this time, to respect COVID-19 restrictions, cremation has taken place privately. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be planned and held at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 432 Sheppard Ave. E., Toronto when it is safe to do so.

As an expression of sympathy, donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to West Park Healthcare Centre Foundation, Chartwell Waterford Retirement Residence, or St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. She will remain in our hearts as a caring Mama and Grandma. The family thanks everyone for their love and support.
