Obituary of Karin Parkin

Beloved mother Karin Elisabeth Parkin passed away peacefully on January 25, 2022, at 92 years old in Toronto of vascular dementia.   

She is survived by her children Vera (Bob) and Burt (Mary), her granddaughters Annalise and Genevieve, and sister Waldtraut Rosenberg in Virginia (affectionately known as Engele).  Lovingly remembered by her extended family -- nephews Andy & Steven and nieces Chantale & Yvonne and their families.  Predeceased by her husband Fred, and brother Hans von Monteton.

Born in Germany, Karin immigrated to Toronto in 1959 and pursued a career as a practical nursing assistant.  Karin had a rewarding career in the maternity ward at St. Joseph's Hospital until her retirement and continued to volunteer for many years thereafter.   She enjoyed her many dogs over the years, spending time with her grandchildren, walks, hiking and even riding her bicycle well into her 90's.

No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned.  The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled. 

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to your local animal shelter/organization of your choice to honour Karin's passion for helping all living creatures.
