Hello Bob, I have just learned of Johnnys passing, from friends in Toronto. I’m deeply sorry and although late, I send my deepest condolences. I new Johnny when I was 18 years old, living in Manchester UK, I’m now 82 years old. Johnny was a great influence in my early years. I have so many fond memories, not only in the UK but also in Toronto. The pictures are a wooden “Bag lady” and his book, that I’ve treasured for years. Thank you for being by his side for 41 years. Dear Bob, We just perused some of Johnnie‘s books and decided to look him up on the internet. We were saddened to discover your beautifully written obituary. As you know we have two of his bronzes and several prints in our home. We always loved Johnnie and have wonderful memories. Should you be so inclined you could write an e-mail to ftymoto@gmail. Growing up my family had a framed print of John Lim. Years later and a city away I found this print in an antique store down the road. I felt connection to the long lost, cherished print of my childhood. I never met John and know essentially nothing about him as an individual. I know that his work always brought me a smile and a momentarily soothed, pleasant dispositional tone. I am grateful for this and hope his life was filled with peace and meaning. I also hope to one day own an original piece of his work to bring daily soothing smiles and a nostalgic, meaningful connection to all those soothed smiles passed.

Thank-You Nicholas, Johnnie mentioned you, Kim, Lily, John and so many other names that I wish I had the opportunity to meet. When I first met Johnnie in 1981, he was SO busy painting for his books and galleries he only stopped for dinners. He showed me many photos telling me who everyone was. He was proud of his family and I know how upset he was in the 80's when his Mom passed. We did however remain very close with Yong and Liz Quek and their children. Thank-you for the memory. Bob Fox
