Obituary of Christa Elisabeth Hass

Christa Elisabeth Hass (née Walz) October 23, 1939 - June 16, 2022

Peacefully and on her own terms our amazingly strong and brave mother left us with effortless style, grace and dignity.  An awesome mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend showed us once again how it’s done and left us in charge until we meet again.

Christa was born on October 23, 1939 to Anton Walz and Johanna Walz (née Städele) on Schwarzwaldstrasse in Baden-Baden, Germany. At a young age she travelled to Switzerland and England to nanny, and eventually to Canada, where she settled and most recently became a Canadian citizen in 2014.  Her family remained in Germany, her parents, brothers Gerhard Walz (wife- Gisela) (both deceased), Egbert (Eges) Walz (deceased) (wife- Rosemarie), Roland Walz (wife- Monika), as well as many other family and friends.

She worked until recently for WeightWatchers, and over the years she worked as an administrative assistant for Pittsburgh Paints, Tricket Productions, Howell Logistics and St. Michael’s Hospital.

Christa went to university as a mature student. Throughout her life she travelled extensively, favourite trips including Hawaii, Italy, and travelling across Canada by train. Later in life, she enjoyed lawn bowling, singing with the German choir, walking with the Happy Hoofers, knitting, ceramics and scratchers.

Christa leaves daughter Sabine Casson (née Hass), son-in-law, Jim Casson of Fenwick, son Andreas Hass, daughter-in-law Alex Cosford of Tiny, son Christian Hass of Toronto, grandsons Max, Nigel, Thomas, and Ethan.

Thanks to all those in the Health System for their time.
