Obituary of Thomas Earl Prosser
Thomas Earl Prosser, age 79, passed away on August 11, 2022, at the Scarborough General Hospital, while being comforted by his son Chris. Tom was born on July 15, 1943, in Toronto, to Earl and Marguerite Prosser.
On the early evening of Monday, August 8th, Tom was taken by ambulance to Scarborough General Hospital. Bill, a friend and neighbour, had his arms around Tom and sang to him while they waited for the ambulance. Prior to that, another friend and neighbour, Joyce, kept him company.
That night he was comforted by his companion Sharon, son Chris, and grandson Dylan. The love and care shown by Dylan brought a smile to Tom. Many times, Tom expressed his gratitude for the love with which he was taken care of by his son Nowell and by Nowell’s mother Carol.
Tom loved his family and was very proud of his four sons. Neighbours, who became his caring friends and social circle, brought him joy. A generous man and a lover of nature and animals, Tom also loved to sing, dance, tell jokes, fish, and watch hockey on TV, but his passion was snooker. An entrepreneur from a young age, Tom built and ran a successful business, Bully Hill Construction, for many years.
Tom took great pride in being able to keep his sobriety date of September 24, 1981, and was grateful for the support he received and was able to give to family, friends, and strangers.
Tom is survived by his companion Sharon, his second wife Carol Enman and their son Nowell, his first wife Valerie Prosser, and their children Chris (Sandi) and Tom (Angie) Prosser. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Krystal, Jaden, Tommy, Charle, Dylan, and Camerin, and his great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his third son, Bradley Prosser, and his sister, Carol Williams.
Tom will be missed. In memory, the family requests that donations be made to CAMH.
Details regarding a celebration of Tom's life will be communicated when final arrangements are made.
