Kelly, David and Michael: I was so grateful that my brother and I were able to reconnect in the last few months. He showed such strength in making the decision he did. I know he did not want to leave you, but I also know he did not want any of you to see his pain for so long so he made such a brave decision out of love for all of you. I am grateful that I was with him at the end and that I was able to hold his hand as he left this earth. I whispered in his ears that he should fly with the angels and he said he would. While we are sad that he has left us, he did so with love surrounding him and I know that made him happy. He will always be with you, watching over you. Love to all of you.

Kelly, Michael and David, I am so grateful for the time I got to spend with Gary during his last weeks. We were able to relive a lot of memories from our childhood and we even laughed at some of the things we remembered. I know you are all very sad right now, but it will get easier and you will eventually be able to smile when a memory of him comes to mind. I know he loved you all so much and he never stopped talking about his grandchildren, Roman and Maddie. May you all take comfort that he is free from all his pain and suffering and I know he is watching over all of you. Rest In Peace, my brother. All my love forever. Your oldest sister, Liz.

Michael, Kelly
Thank you both for allowing me to be part of your Dads final goodbye to this world. I was honored to witness his strength, dignity, and love for his family on display as he choose to end his suffering and yours, and to leave this world on his own terms. I am so glad we were able to reconnect over the last few months as we had a chance for a few visits. Please know your Dad spoke with pride and love for all you kids Michael, Kelly, David, and went on at length about the grandkids, Maddie and Roman. I can only imagine how hard it was for him to say goodbye to you all. I am so sorry for your loss it is a void that will never fill, but will get easier with time. Gary told me during one of my visits as I talked of missed chances to connect over the years, no regrets brother, no worries, no sorries, we are together now. Gary you will always remain a part of me.
Love always from your Little Brother Mark

It was a very sad week losing Gary. I will always remember him as the very kind, reliable and generous person that he always was. HIs kids meant everything to him, as proven by his actions. He always wanted to do the best for them and provide for them. While recently being so sick, he painted his place so that Kelly and Maddie would have a fresh place to live after he was gone. It was never expected of him. Who does that, while not being well, and still putting others first?....only Gary. You can relax now in heaven Gary but I know you will still be watching out for your kids,

Things will never be the same without you here. Thanks for always being so forgiving, funny, kind and generous to me. You have taught me a lot about these things over the years, and I am forever grateful. Rest in pain-free paradise, buddy. I love you ❤️

MAiD:
Medically assisted dying can provide dignity and peace to terminally ill patients in several ways:
Control over their own life: When terminally ill patients are facing unbearable pain and suffering, they may feel like they have lost control over their own lives. Medical assisted dying gives them the power to choose how and when they want to die, which can provide a sense of control and autonomy.
Alleviation of suffering: For some terminally ill patients, the pain and suffering they are experiencing can be unbearable. Medical assisted dying can provide a way to alleviate that suffering and allow them to pass away peacefully and with dignity.
Emotional comfort: Knowing that they have the option of medical assisted dying can provide terminally ill patients with emotional comfort and peace of mind. It can reduce anxiety and fear of the unknown, and allow them to focus on the time they have left with loved ones.
Respect for their wishes: Medical assisted dying allows terminally ill patients to have their end-of-life wishes respected. It can ensure that they do not have to endure prolonged suffering or a loss of dignity and control at the end of their lives.
Overall, medically assisted dying can provide a way for terminally ill patients to have a peaceful, dignified, and humane end-of-life experience.
