Obituary of Michael Nelson Lithgow Earle
Michael Earle
June 9th, 1952 – November 19th, 2018
Peacefully and with the gentle dignity which defined his life, Michael passed away at home in the arms of his beloved wife Jasmin. He lived his last days in the back room of his house overlooking his garden and pond and with a stream of friends and family to keep him company.
Michael was born in Montreal but raised and educated in England. A gifted artist from his earliest years, he received a Master’s Degree in Fine Art from the Slade School of Art, University College, London. He was best known for his skill and innovative techniques in print making which enabled him to depict the nature he so loved in a unique and unforgettable way. He lived a simple life, taking great joy in his children and grandchildren and in observing with astonishing detail the various birds and wildlife he met in his life in Toronto and at his beloved farm north of Toronto.
He will be greatly missed by Jasmin, his wife of over 44 years and soul mate, his brother Tim (Lee) and sister Wendy, his children, Robin (Rosemary), Matthew (Jill), Daniel (Stacy) and Roxanne (Raghu) and his grandchildren, James, Emily, little Michael, Charley and Bruce and step grandsons Arvin and Kiran. He was an extraordinary human being whose gifts and qualities of kindness and understanding uplifted and inspired his family and many friends.
The Earle family would like to express their profound gratitude to Dr Jang and his team at the Princess Margaret Hospital for the care and compassion they showed to Michael, and to Dr Zive and the palliative care team at Dorothy Ley Hospice for their compassionate care in Michael’s last few days of life.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at the Islington Golf Club on Sunday, November 25th, 2018 from 1.00pm – 4.00pm.
