Obituary of Bernard MacDonald

On Sunday September 24, 2023 Bernard Ralph MacDonald, known to family and friends alike as “Bernie” passed away at the age of 74.

Bernie was born on November 24, 1948 to Bernard and Barbara MacDonald in Mississauga, Ontario. The oldest of seven children, Bernie was looked up to by his six younger siblings Dan, Donna, Ken, Janet, Brenda, and Alan for fun, guidance and support.

Spending his adult life in the Greater Toronto Area, Bernie worked as a machinist for Stanley Manufacturing his entire working life until he retired. During those years Bernie found Christianity and became very involved with The Church on The Queensway. Through the course of many years there, Bernie developed a deep respect and affection for not only the churches principals, but it’s members. He adored working in the flower gardens and ensuring the picturesque beauty of the grounds. He was fondly known where he lived for being a helpful neighbour especially during winter months when it was a common sight to see Bernie outside shovelling everyone’s drive way for them.

He is preceded in death by his Father Bernard MacDonald, and his Sister Janet MacDonald, Step Father Garnet Clayton “Jimmy”.

He is survived by his Mother Barbara MacDonald, Dan and Brenda MacDonald with their children Tammy and Jody with their families. Donna and John Schiller and their children Allen and Shannon and their families. Ken and Monique with their children Kennith and Cary and their families. Nikki MacDonald with her family. Brenda MacDonald and her children Wade, Jessie, and Orion with their families. Alan and Martha with their son Tyler with whom shared a special bond with his “Uncle Bernie”.

To fulfill Bernies final wishes, his ashes will be brought home to be with his beloved parents until such a time they can all be together again and spread. While he wished for no formal ceremonies, remembering Bernie for all his quirks and fun is a great way to pay tribute to a wonderful life lived.
