Obituary of Diane Western

Diane Western (nee Johnston)

June 24, 1933 - November 6, 2023

A loving wife, mother, and nana, Diane will be missed by her children, Richard (Julie), Julie (Lu Set), Wendy, James, and Joseph (Pauline), granddaughters, Emily and Courtney, and step-grandsons, Jack and Sam. Diane was a dear sister to George, and the late David, Mavis, and Elaine, and caring aunt to their children.

Abundantly creative, Diane had a passion for crafting, gardening, and home improvement projects. Her devotion to her family was endless, and she cherished hosting gatherings where all were welcome in her home or to family cottages at Jackson’s Point, Lake Simcoe and Bella Lake in Muskoka. 

Diane was the resilient and nurturing centre of her family with her beloved late husband, Roger, always by her side. She will be laid to rest beside him and their two children, David and Anne, at Hillcrest Cemetery in a private family service. 

The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Benjamin Kaasa and the staff of Kensington Gardens for their many years of dignified care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada and Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated.
