Obituary of Tom Woolverton

Tom Woolverton, a beloved soul born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on August 5th, 1983, bid farewell to this world on Friday, December 8, 2023. He passed away in Toronto, Canada, surrounded by the love that he had cultivated throughout his remarkable life. Tom, a devoted husband, shared his life with his loving partner, Nelson from Bogota, Colombia. Their journey together was a testament to the enduring power of love, a bond that transcended borders and brought joy to their lives.

Tom dedicated 25 years of his professional life to IKEA, leaving an indelible mark on the company and forging lasting connections with colleagues and friends. His career took him from the enchanting landscapes of Scotland to the vibrant streets of Dublin, the bustling city of London and finally, to the diverse community of Toronto. Along this journey, Tom formed deep and lasting friendships with Mel, Ben, Seán, Ola, Eithne, Marsha, Emily, and Wilber among many others, who shared in his professional and personal triumphs. Beyond the confines of the workplace, Tom was an avid skier, finding solace and joy on the slopes. His passion for skiing not only reflected his adventurous spirit but also became a source of connection and shared experiences with those he held dear. Tom was a big fan of Yoshi, a character that brought him joy and entertainment. His love for this iconic figure added a playful and whimsical dimension to his life, showcasing his ability to find delight in the simple pleasures.

Tom leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and warmth. His memory will forever be cherished by his grieving husband, Nelson. Tom is also survived by his mother, Cari, and stepfather Patrick, as well as his father, Peter Woolverton, and his stepmum Anna, all in Edinburgh, Scotland. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Philippa, and her partner Phil, in Cardiff, Wales. Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents, Margaret and Jim Simpson of Dundee, Scotland and Michael and Ella Woolverton, of Edinburgh, Scotland.

A memorial service to celebrate Tom's life will be held on January 13th at 1:30pm at the Chapel of Saint Albert the Great in Edinburgh, where family and friends will gather to share stories, memories, and find solace in the community of love that Tom so beautifully cultivated during his time on Earth.
