Obituary of Edward Francis Tansley
Edward Francis Tansley (1945 - 2024)
Edward Francis Tansley, affectionately known as Butch, aged 78, of Toronto, passed peacefully away on April 10, 2024, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
Born on September 16, 1945, in Toronto, Ed was the cherished son of Angelina and Edwin Tansley. He was a proud alumnus of Etobicoke Collegiate Institute and later made his mark in the window manufacturing industry. Ed's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly at Screenco, where his passion, hard work, and meticulous attention to detail led to a successful career. He was a reliable and respected figure in his professional community.
In 1972, Edward met Elizabeth "Betty" Tansley in Toronto, and together they welcomed their son, David, in 1983. After retiring over a decade ago, Ed devoted himself to his family, friends, and a range of hobbies. He was an avid gardener, a collector of soldier figurines, an enthusiastic sports fan, and dog lover. Ed also cherished his time coloring and participating in community activities as a member of the Hustlers Young Men’s Bible Class and Islington United Church.
Ed was predeceased by his parents and leaves behind a loving family: his son David (Jennifer), David's mother Betty, his wife Elena, cousins Clara Antonacci and Marilyn Roberts, and his best friend of over 50 years, Peter Conforzi. He will also be greatly missed by his dear friends Wilford and Raymond, and the many who knew him along the east coast of Canada, particularly in Newfoundland, with the Rideouts and the Bradburys.
A service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held at Islington United Church on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 1 PM. Ed's legacy of kindness, dedication, and community spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.
