Obituary of Glen James Furse

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Glen James Furse at St. Joseph's Health Centre in Toronto on March 9th in his 69th year.

Glen leaves behind his beloved partner of over 30 years Doreen Colonello, sister Alison Wheelans (Stuart), sons Alexander Lee Furse (Kaitlynn) and Patrick James Furse, and grandkids Marielle Olivia Lynn Furse and Arthur James Alexander Furse.

He was visionary, eccentric and searched for beauty and joy wherever possible. He was kind, gentle soul who very much much enjoyed the bad jokes found within Christmas crackers.

Glen's life was defined by art and music. Having attending the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Etobicoke and OCAD University in Toronto, where he first met Doreen, his love for the arts was clear from a young age. His talent and natural expression was something that many strive to achieve over their lifetime. He was a drummer who played in many bands but enjoyed the sound of all instruments.

He worked in the music industry for many years, and was especially proud of his time as the manager of the Classical Record Shop.

Glen was also a gardener and tinkerer. He restlessly completed projects. His front lawn magnolia tree adorned with chimes, lights and artistic elements hanging from the branches, catching the eye and admiration of adults and children alike.

Glen will be laid to rest this Spring following cremation and a celebration of life and art show will follow.

We have started the Glen James Furse bursary for students of OCAD University, who are in need of financial assistance to continue their artistic studies. If you would like to make a donation:
