Obituary of Bill Milne

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) James Milne, in his 72nd year.  Bill passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and close friends on May 14, 2024. 

Proud father of David (Wasana), Sean, and Andrew (Samantha). Loved grandfather of Carter. He will also be greatly missed by Cynthia and husband Randy, and his best friend John.

Bill was born in Niagara-on-the-Lake and later grew up in North York. He attended Westview SS and joined the school band, playing tenor sax. The band travelled to Great Britain, where Bill , with his friend Mark, were able to break away from the tour and spend the weekend at the 1970 Isle of White Music festival where he saw Jimmy Hendrix’s final concert. In his last year of school, Bill and 2 friends had a successful dried flower business and he had his 15 minutes of fame with a write up in the Toronto Star.

Bill and Cynthia raised their Sons in Mississauga. Retired after a successful career at Rapistan Manufacturing, Bill continued to enjoy most sports including hockey and golf; he cycled the Lakeshore trail and everyday to his latest obsession, pickleball. He also loved shooting pool with his Sons.

Bill was diagnosed with ALS September 2023; he had previously lost two of his siblings to ALS and knew how the disease plays out. 

This past year he has especially enjoyed a very close connection and the camaraderie of his Sons.  They will be toasting Bill with a healthy shot of Balvenie Single Malt, his favourite.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday May 31 from 2PM to 5PM at the Crooked Cue 3056 Bloor Street West, Etobicoke.
