Obituary of Barbara Joyce Kelly
Kelly-Brymer, Barbara Joyce,
A bright and shining light left our world surrounded by family as the sun rose on Friday July 5th, 2024.
Beloved Mum to Debbie and David. Mother-in-law to Candi, Nana to Ryan, Josh, Jake, Madison, Cheryl, Jeffery and GG, (great gramma) to sweet Mason.
Mum was born in Manchester, Nova Scotia on September 27th, 1939 to parents, Hazel and Alexander Brymer and was one of nine siblings.
She left home at the young age of 18 and followed her big brother Charlie, to Toronto. She eventually settled into a great community called Mimico where she raised Dave and I.
As a single parent, Mums life wasn’t always easy, but she enjoyed her life. A good game of cards, rolling the dice, scratch tickets and bingo were things she loved to play. Spending time with family and friends, her summer trips back home, her best friend and partner in everything, Nancy Nicol, were things she loved to do.
Her style was classic, her humour and sarcasm was brilliant and she was “mama” to all Dave’s friends right till the end.
She fought a tough battle with multiple health issues and challenges after her stroke in September 2022 but she never gave up, she was a fighter.
She is predeceased by her parents and her wonderful stepfather, John Hayden, brothers Charles and Kenneth Brymer, sister Ina Pyle brother-in-laws Robert Brouillette, Gordon Pyle, Bud Theriault, sister-in-law Ruth Brymer, nephew Kevin Brouillette and niece Jill Brymer.
She is survived by sisters Elsie (Harold) Miller, Evelyn Brouillette, Janet Theriault, Beverly (Cyril) Power, Laurel (Larry) Purcell, sister-in-law Francis Brymer, nieces, nephews and cousins back home.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 14th, 2024, at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 101, 3850 Lakeshore Blvd West, Etobicoke from 2pm-6pm.
Internment will take place in Boylston, Nova Scotia.
Rest easy mum, we will miss you.
