Milan Imrišek

1941-2024

It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Milan Imrišek on June 5^th, 2024 at the age of 83. Milan passed away surrounded by his loving family at St. Joseph’s Palliative Care Unit.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vera; son, Martin and his wife, Viola; daughter, Gabriela and her husband, Mark; his grandchildren, Alexandra, Joshua, Cameron, and Hayden; and his younger siblings, Lubomir and Viera. He will be deeply missed by all.

Milan was born in Bratislava, Čzechoslovakia in 1941. As a young boy he lived in Čičovo, but later moved to Čachtice where his family remained. At the age of 19 he served in the military and later studied to become an electronics engineer. During his studies, he juggled working full time in television and helping build his family home in Čachtice.

On July 28, 1972 he married Vera in Brno and started a family with the birth of their son, Martin and later their daughter, Gabriela. In 1983, he immigrated with his family to Toronto, Canada where they continued to reside. Milan worked as an electronics engineer for VTR productions and later for Technicolour.

Milan enjoyed the company of his family and took great pride in watching his grandchildren grow up. He was always up to taking them on adventures and was eager to teach them about history and science or to go down a water slide on vacation or enjoy a hot chocolate by the lake. He enjoyed the simple pleaser of a good cappuccino and listening to birds chirp in the early morning. He dreamed of walking the Camino de Santiago and travelling across Canada by RV.

In the spring of 2023, Milan was diagnosed with cancer. Despite his illness he maintained his positive and upbeat outlook on life and continued to find joy in his family, especially his grandchildren.
