Obituary of Brent Alexander Yaremy

Brent Alexander Yaremy

May 1971 – December 2024

With great sadness we announce the passing of my “baby brother”, Brent.

Brent had so many gifts – music and language, and an innate ability to connect with people. He made friends with everyone - he made people feel accepted and safe, and everyone who knew him has a memory of Brent’s kindness, his humour and his generosity.

Brent grew up with a love of cats and this continued into adulthood as he was especially attached to Lightning (who was 24 years old at passing) and his most recent cat, Trouble.

Brent’s childhood was not limited to Canada and through living in Austria and many international trips, he developed a love of languages, music and culture, which stayed with him throughout his life. He could not resist the urge to explore, in person or through books, countries, geography and cities. He would often grab a map book and measure distances between places to fuel his thirst for knowledge.

As a true testament to his giving spirit, after his passing Brent was able to donate some of his organs to recipients in a life-saving measure.

Brent was predeceased by our parents, Eugene and Augustina Yaremy. Left to mourn his passing are his sister, Carol Ann (Miles Finlay), our Aunts and Uncles, Pat and Ben, Norman and Sherry, Dennis and Pauline, Cousins, particularly Naomi, and Sonja and (predeceased) Tannis. Friends, so many, but of special mention are Len, Ray and Ralph. Brent was also predeceased by too many of his friends and he mourned them deeply.

If so desired, memorial tributes in Brent’s name could be made to the Paws and Tails pet rescue organization (who have kindly allowed Trouble to reside with them).
