I have many good memories of Uncle Rog, my memories begin sometime in the 1980's at places like Citation, Jackson's Point, the golf course and a few memories of him at Bella Lake too. His handiwork is everywhere there. Many of his projects endure to today's generation. One memory I have is him by the kitchen fireplace and him enthusiastically telling me how he had ensured the fireplace brickwork would not budge by putting pillars into the ground. I'd been impressed prior as I'd seen those pillars underneath that kept it solid. Sure enough it endures to today. Also although I was too young to remember the catamaran in the water, I do remember as a kid seeing it. I'm thankful for seeing that as it helped my perspective and to better relate to family stories. I have lots more, those are just a few of the good memories I have and I will cherish them all. Thank you to those who posted the excellent photos. Thinking of everyone in the Western family at this time.

It is a wonderful thing to never have a bad memory of someone you have known for more than 60 years. His life was full, and his devotion to my sister and the family endless. As brothers-in-law, Rog and I shared some terrific family times together. We got into the habit of calling each other on our birthdays because they were just 2 days apart in July. Being 16 years younger I viewed him as somewhat of a father figure early on. He never grew tired of telling the same embarrassing stories of my childhood at every opportunity - all in good fun of course. I share with his children and grandchildren a sorrow eased by wonderful memories that are certain to quickly bring peace and comfort.
