Obituary of Marie Elenora Storr

Marie Elenora Storr With sadness, we announce the passing of Marie (Miroslawa) Storr (nee Tyrala) on Monday, January 13th in the palliative care unit of Bridgepoint Hospital, aged 71. Marie fought a long battle with cancer, with great resilience and courage. She is survived by her husband, John Storr, her children, Elizabeth Storr (Dave) and Krystyna Price (Stephen), sisters Wanda Tyrala (Roland) and Yolanda Bulger (Jim) and her grandchildren, Tyler Batten-Storr, and Raili and Mackai Price. Marie was a caring and dedicated elementary school teacher for over 40 years, and is remembered very fondly by her colleagues and many friends. Marie grew up in Brantford, Ontario, after emigrating with her Polish family from Germany after the war. She spoke fluent Polish, cooked outstanding golabki, and was proud of her roots. She moved to Toronto after graduating from teacher’s college. Marie was a life-long learner, and went on to obtain several other degrees, all while working full-time and raising her children. Her other interests included reading (she loved her book club), excursions with her sisters, travel, cooking shows, and lively conversation. She was also a talented water colour artist. Marie wished to have her ashes scattered in the ocean (she wanted to keep travelling). Her life will be celebrated at a private family memorial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Marie's name to the Princess Margaret Hospital.
