Obituary of Bob Burke
Burke, John Robert (Bob) born in Toronto April 3, 1953 peacefully passed away in his 67th year at Kensington Hospice, Toronto on March 24, 2020 with his wife Aline by his side.
Bob was a long time employee at Long and McQuade where he became great friends with many of the musicians he had helped over the years. Bob's greatest loves were family, music and reading. He was rarely seen without a book or a guitar in his hands. He loved to fly, first radio controlled (RC) airplanes and then he became a licensed ultra-light pilot. He was an accomplished home chef who will forever be remembered for his eggs benedict. And Bob was a true story teller. He loved to tell a good joke.
Bob was a devoted son who moved home to care for his mother in her final years and gave her the gifts of companionship and quality of life. He was a loyal friend having known many of those closest to him since childhood. He loved all animals but especially his cats Bobby and McGee. He was a good man, a gentle man, smart, wickedly funny, kind, thoughtful and generous. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Robert Carrington (Bob) and Dorothy Margaret Burke. Beloved husband of his wife Aline. Loving brother of Peter (Maureen) Burke, Cathy St-Onge and Wendy Burke. Proud uncle of Lysa (Greg) Procunier, Robert (Isabell) Burke, Elizabeth (Jason) Blakely and Caleigh (Ryan) Waller and great-uncle of Evelyn, Caitlin, Madeline, Hayden, Jacob, Julian and Ethan.
There will be a private interment in Thornhill Cemetery. Due to the current crisis, a celebration of his life will take place at a future date.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in his memory to the Canadian Wildlife Federation www.cwf-fcf.org/en/
