I have selfishly avoided posting this remembrance because I didn't want to sit with how sad his death is. But in finding out Gisela is also dying, I realized how awful it is to avoid acknowledging these excruciating losses. I met Butch in high school, when I became friends with his daughter Sophie. There was absolutely no one like Butch. His positivity was unflappable. He was always ready with a joke. I remember him always dressing nicely too - like, Butch in athleisure, I can't imagine it! He was a deeply kind man and so affectionate. He loved his girls, Sophie and Gisela, more than anything. I remember he loved to tease Soph, and I can hear so clearly her response, "Pa! Stoooop!" He built such a beautiful, close family and their love and loyalty to each other were so easy to see. Butch was always so generous and welcoming to me. I think of him often and will never forget him.

What can I say...Even though we have, unfortunately, not met too often in person, he was there all my life so was my auntie Gisi and Soaps. No joking, but he was there even though so many many miles away. And I will not ever forget our FUN time at there house still back in California. He was soooo funny, soooooo funny. I don't even know how old I was back then... 10? But will never forget. I see it right in front of my eyes how we were eating all together and how he made my dad laugh so hard - Considering my dad really won't give his laughs to easily to anyone :D So that also describes what kind of a ... Ausstrahlung.. he had. I mean, one can see it just looking at his pictures. Looking at his pictures gives me feeling of warmth and strength and of being liked and part of it.
Will remember you. You will be missed all.
Much love

Some years ago I met these wonderful friends. They contacted me in advance and did my best to help with their stay arrangements. When I introduced myself in person we immediately realized we will be friends forever. A beautiful couple and incredible sense of humor. Stay finished and later I received this wonderful email from Mrs. Gisela Taylor telling me about their holidays in IPP. Feedbacks are always important as you can know what your guests really enjoyed during stay. This time it was more than that, I knew that unfortunately Mr. Butch Taylor will not be able to travel again due he didn’t feel well. Also on the same email Gisela mentioned how wonderful time they had with us. I had no idea about it, they were so happy while they were here none could say he was sick or suffering. We built a lovely and honest friendship and I even saw Butch again on video calls. Unfortunately I’m not today next to his family my dear Gisela and Sophie to say how much I’m sorry for their lost. My dear and kind friend Butch started his journey to heaven yesterday. He will be remembered and will remain in our hearts for the eternity. My prayers will be for him first and his family.
Open your wings oh dear soul, run to the Sun and keep calm until we see you again.
RIP, God blesses your soul and your family
Your dear friend Janet

Butch was a wonderful man with a big heart, smile, and sense of humor. Gisela and Butch were my BEST toy warehouse volunteers at The Salvation Army in Monterey. I cherished the days they they came, the times when I could shared a meal with them, and my short visit with them in Toronto. Prayers, hugs, and love to you you, Gisela and Sophie!

My wife Julia and I look back fondly on fun-filled brunches with the Taylors. Sophie and I met in college and have always enjoyed teasing each other and pushing each other’s buttons. When Julia and I met Butch that all changed. Suddenly Butch and I were trading jabs—much to the amusement (and annoyance) of the ladies! But our get-togethers were always lighthearted affairs filled with laughter. And that had everything to do with Butch.
Thanks for all the laughs and eye-rolls, Butch. We will miss you dearly!
In Trauer fühlen wir uns mit Euch verbunden, liebe Sophie und Gisela.

Our family has know the Taylor’s since the late 90’s when our oldest daughter Lauren was a Senior and Sophie was a sophomore, I believe, at York School in Monterey. The Taylor’s were simply the nicest family. Because Lauren graduated ahead of Sophie and headed off to college we didn’t really see them much for a few years. About 3-4 years later, in the summer, when Sophie was home from college working, our middle daughter, Beth was also home from school and happened to get a job with the Pebble Beach Company store on Cannery Row and was pleasantly surprised to find she was working with Sophie! The girls were the same age. That was the beginning of a sweet friendship between Sophie and Bethie. Sophie became a frequent visitor to our home and became “part of the family”.
I will always remember Butch as a sweet and goofy Dad who was very proud of his daughter who he deeply adored.
Our sincere condolences to Gisela and Sophie. May you find peace and love with his memory. He will always be with you.
Love... The Hylle’s

I met Pa Taylor as a close friend of his daughter, Sophie and had the pleasure of being hosted in their home in Toronto.
The entire family's warmth and kindness always made me feel at home and they can make anyone feel like they've been part of the family for years. This includes hilarious conversations and jokes about politics and the world- sometimes Pa Taylor's jokes weren't the funniest but his smile made you laugh anyways! I remember his quick jabs at both me and Sophie and Sophie's sigh of "PA!" which makes me laugh to myself. I will remember him, for his sweet kindness and outgoing personality. It was a blessing to be able to have spent time with him and his loving family. I am so very sorry for your loss Sophie, and am glad he was able to pass with you lovingly by this side. Sending you and your mom lots of love. Big hugs from New York, Erica
