I am so saddened to hear of your untimely passing and I'm trying to take comfort in knowing you've been reunited with your family up in the heavens...Deejay included. My life path would not have been the same as it is today, were it not for our time together and your loving, sweet Mom guiding me back to continuing education, in similar fashion as she did herself. Steve could charm anyone, he was witty, daring and indeed had a heart of gold. Clearly he continued full on in life from where we left off, being his hilarious self, even though I have not seen him in 15 yrs, I can still hear his voice, his laugh and his egging me on to go further...my favorite memory of Steve is when we smoked a big fatty on top of this giant rock on the ocean coast in Scotland, then the tide started rolling in...he helped me get down, I would not have made it without him. I never would have been on the rock without him. He will be missed...much love to all whom have met him.

I first got to know Steve over 15 years ago when Rohanna and I were roomies in university. He learned early on that the way to Rohanna’s heart was through her stomach, and with time they developed a beautiful partnership that bloomed into a long & lasting love. Over the years we all became very close friends. I count myself lucky to have known Steve, and have many wonderful memories to reflect on. He was an innovative chef, always experimenting with creative new concepts and recipes. He pushed the boundaries of what was possible in the culinary world, and shared his love of food and adventure with others along the way. He taught me that the secret ingredient to the perfect omelette is simple - all you need is butter. I remember Steve as a generous and kind person who would help out when he could. Once he snuck Rohanna and I, along with some friends, through the kitchen of the Berkeley Church to attend a special event when we were young, broke and hungry. We were grateful and happy to try out his delicious tasting menu. When we were a bit older, and a little more mature, Jameel and I enjoyed accompanying Rohanna & Steve to the top restaurants in Toronto, where we savoured the experience of dining together and being surrounded by the warmth of friendship. Steve understood the magic of good food and good friends, and I will never forget all the fun times where we shared a meal and a laugh together. You will be missed more than you could ever know, Emma

Steve was a genuine individual and had a major influence on me. From teaching me dj techniques to sharing new music. I have only had one other person have such musical impact on me, they introduced me to electronic music. Steve taught and expanded my world of electronic music. From The Renaissance mix album ,Bt’s IMA to Moby!! We had so many great nights at clubs and being with friends! Everything has still resonated with me to this day. I never said thank you. Thank you Steve!

Steve taught me how to effectively chop an onion. This is something I do fairly often these days. I will remember him as a person that was doing exactly what he was meant to on earth. Cooking, adventures, and snowboarding. This inspires me to find the things in life that are my calling and live in that same way. Thank you for all the times you cooked for Emma and I. I had the privilege of working with Steve for nearing a decade. He was one of the originals who helped build the spirit, vibe and success of Berkeley. He was a natural-born leader and assembled a team of amazing people who have the utmost respect for him. He will be greatly missed by us of all! Although Steve was a thrill-seeker with a seemingly tough exterior, he had a heart of gold. As soon as he trusted you enough to be in your corner, his loyalty would keep him there for the long haul. I’ll always remember Steve’s excitement for new fashion (especially shoes) & adventure ..... particularly snowboarding trips upcoming & past! .....And his love of dining in the most lavish restaurants in each place he visited (although I’m not sure I ever saw him eat anything). I guess you can trust a skinny chef. Steve will be greatly missed by our team and we’ll always remember him fondly. Rohanna please accept our deepest condolences and don’t hesitate to reach out if there is any way we can help!
