Obituary of John Storr
With heavy hearts, the family of John Storr announces his passing on November 4, 2021, aged 82, at St. Joseph's hospital in Toronto.
John was born in West Hartlepool, England, on May 13, 1939. Shortly before his 13th birthday, he and his family made the arduous, week-long journey across the Atlantic to Canada, settling in Hamilton, Ontario.
John graduated from McMaster University with his teaching certification. John's belief in the importance of education, coupled with his boundless patience, made him especially well-suited to teaching, a career in which he found great fulfillment for 35 years.
John greatly enjoyed his retirement too: playing bridge and having coffee with friends; listening to his vast collection of classical music CDs; and most of all, spending time with family at Horseshoe Lake, where he built the cherished family cottage from the ground up.
John was fiercely intelligent, and though he often appeared quiet and reserved, he possessed a playful sense of humour and a mischievous smile. Even in sickness he maintained a quick wit and a good-natured spirit, which endeared him to everyone he encountered. He will be dearly missed by all.
John was predeceased by his wife, Marie, and his eldest daughter, Krystyna.
The family will be holding a private ceremony and scattering of ashes.
